Hi All, hope all is well in running world, sorry I missed last week but was up on the slopes of Mount Buller with heaps of snow!!
In fact, I went for a run in minus 7 degrees and snow underfoot, an exhilarating experience, and have attached a photo of myself and my brother-in-law, Wally!! Thanks Wally!! In fact I think we should start a competition of the most interesting places you have run, so if you have any photos of you running in unusual or beautiful places, send them to me and I will get them published!!
Also, great to see so many funrunners at the AE cross country which was a huge success, excellent results and lots of PB’s, hope you all enjoyed the morning and the brekky afterwards which was paid for by Athletics East!! Thanks AE!!
Now this weekend, Sat 4th September is the Tony Brown 5km & 10km run at Malabar, we meet at the oval near Malabar beach with run commencing at 8.00. It is quite a hilly course but very picturesque back along the water and for the 10km is 2 loops of a 5km course, 2.5 out and back, so walkers are also included and can do the 5km loop.
This run is also part of the pointscore, so you all get a point for participating!!
And we are looking for 3 volunteers to help marshall on the day, so if you are available, please see Peter Good on the morning of the run at Malabar and he will let you know what to do.
Also, there is brekky afterwards at the local cafe, same as last year, called the Lite Hearted Cafe at 1212 Anzac Parade, Malabar NSW 2036 (02) 9311 0055 but this time is just pay for yourselves but always a good social gathering!!
Dates to put in your diaries are:
- Sunday 19th September – 9km bridge run, Half Marathon and Full Marathon
- Friday 22nd October – AE AGM and awards night at Paddington RSL
- Sunday 24th October – Maroubra Fun run of 4km & 8km
